Tips

  • One serve of this recipe is a good source of fibre. Eating a diet high in fibre can help reduce your risk of bowel cancer.
  • Popcorn is a wholegrain. Wholegrains are naturally high in fibre, and contain good fats our bodies need as well as being low in saturated fat.
  • Homemade popcorn is a healthy alternative to packaged snacks like chips.

  • Cook small amounts of popcorn each time. It is best when freshly cooked.

  • Popping corn is a low-cost ingredient to keep in the pantry.
  • Making your own popcorn is much cheaper than buying premade popcorn.

Method

Step 1
Place ¼ cup of popcorn into large microwave-safe container (not plastic) with a lid.

Step 2
With the lid slightly open, microwave on high for 3-5 minutes, or until popping slows to once every 1-2 seconds.

Serving suggestion: mix with dried apple and sultanas to make poppletana.
