Ingredients

1 cup mixed frozen berries
1 medium banana, peeled
1 cup reduced-fat milk
½ cup reduced-fat natural or strawberry yoghurt*

* Gluten free if using a gluten free yoghurt

Savvy swaps

You can swap:

Frozen berries
Fresh berries

Tips

  • Milk and yoghurt provide calcium. Calcium is needed for healthy bones and teeth.
  • Berries provide fibre. Fibre helps you keep fuller for longer.
  • You can make this dairy free by using soy or oat milk and a dairy free yoghurt.

  • Freeze overripe bananas to use in smoothies – frozen bananas make a thicker smoothie.
  • Buy ‘Odd Bunch’, ‘I’m Perfect’ or ‘Imperfect Picks’ bananas to help reduce food waste

  • This is great to make when fresh berries and bananas are on special or if they are a bit soft.
  • Compare prices per 100g to get the best value for money. This information is on the supermarket price tag. It can be cheaper to buy a larger tub of yoghurt.

Method

Step 1
Place all ingredients in a blender and process on high until smooth.

Note: Makes 2 kid sized smoothies.

Serving suggestion: Add 2 teaspoons of chia seeds and 1 tablespoon of desiccated coconut for a more filling smoothie.
