Tips

  • This recipe is a good source of fibre. Eating a diet high in fibre can help reduce your risk of bowel cancer.
  • Oats are wholegrains. Wholegrains are naturally high in fibre, and contain good fats our bodies need as well as being low in saturated fat.
  • Yoghurt provides calcium. Calcium is needed for strong bones and teeth.

  • Reduce waste and don’t peel the apple. Just wash well.

  • You can save money by using home brand oats, sultanas and yoghurt.
  • Compare prices per 100g to get the best value for money. This information is on the supermarket price tag. It can be cheaper to buy a larger carton of yoghurt or packet of sultanas or oats.

Method

Step 1
Mix together the yoghurt, oats, sultanas and apple if including.

Food safety tip: if you are packing for lunch, yoghurt needs to be kept cold so pack an ice brick.
