Six cubes of frozen fruit puree

There are lots of good reasons to eat seasonal fruit and vegies:

  • The produce is fresher, more nutritious and delicious.
  • They are less expensive – plenty of supply means that produce will be cheaper.
  • It’s more sustainable and better for the environment.
  • Buying local supports Australian farmers and our economy.

Summer fruit  makes the best snacks:

Bananas, pears, mangoes, peaches and strawberries are delicious on their own or chopped up on cereal or yoghurt or to make a refreshing fruit salad. Why not try our fruit skewers

Don’t throw out fruit that may be a bit soft – try making this frozen fruit puree to have as a handy addition to smoothies and cold drinks.

Summer is the perfect time to eat more vegies and salads to reduce your cancer risk:

Put crunchy beans in our bean salad.

Try ‘cold’ potatoes with a potato salad – a good source of resistant starch which is good for your gut.

Tomatoes and cucumber combine perfectly in a Greek salad.

Add grapes to a salad like in this Waldorf salad.

Try a simple mixed salad with a delicious honey and mustard dressing.

Half a head of cabbage makes plenty of coleslaw, a great addition to summer meals, at a BBQ or added to sandwiches or wraps.

Add summer veg to your snacks and meals or go meat free:

Tomatoes and capsicum go well together in a vegie taco.

Add spinach and zucchini to our zucchini muffins and lamb and veg meatballs.

Swap eggplant for meat in an eggplant tagine  or a tasty mushroom spinach and lentil lasagne.
